Facebook Users Beware!

Which popular Social Networking site gets its name from Bollywood? Its Facebook ! Remember the popular Baazigar number “Kitaabein(Books) bohot si padhi hogi tumne, magar koi chehra(Face) bhi tumne padha hai?”
This was one PJ that I always crack with all Facebook lovers. Sorry ! Jokes aside, I’m here to tell you something serious.
With the number of Facebook users increasing day by day, it surely is a huge database of people. Hackers would love to target such a mass. In a few recent researches by several security firms, it has been revealed that Facebook users are being targeted for a spam campaign. People receive the Trojan Bredolab as an attachment in an e-mail, that claims to have been sent by Facebook Team. The e-mail, that poses itself to be a password change notification, brings the Trojan with itself bundled in an attachment. Once downloaded, the attachment itself downloads two more bots called Pushdo and Cutwail. These bots then start spamming more such e-mails. According to the Researchers at Websense, almost 350,000 of such messages have been sent by now. MX Lab says, that it bypasses firewalls and puts a piece of its own code into svchost.exe and explorer.exe.
So, next time when you receive a Password Change notification message from Facebook Team, make sure that its not the Bredolab Trojan e-mail. Just a little bit of awareness and alertness can protect you from being a victim of threats posed by hackers and spammers.

The blog article has a link to the MX Lab Blog at http://blog.mxlab.eu while the link text states “MX Logic”.
MX Logic is not MX Lab.
